Joshua Tree January: Launching a New Vision for Education, Conservation, and Collaboration

Natalie Teboul

This January, Traveling Miss T. will proudly launch Joshua Tree January for the very first time. The campaign will be a month-long celebration of Joshua Tree National Park designed to blend education, storytelling, and conservation in ways that feel accessible, inspiring, and impactful.

Throughout the month, Joshua Tree January will highlight the park’s unique desert ecosystems through virtual field trips, geography and math activities, and engaging social media storytelling. The campaign will also uplift sustainable and small businesses inspired by the desert, helping students and families see how values-driven brands can support public lands while encouraging curiosity and exploration.

A central goal of Joshua Tree January will be to raise awareness and funds for the Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA). In doing so, the campaign will reinforce Traveling Miss T.’s mission of equitable access to public lands and experiential learning for all students. Toward the end of the month, Miss T. will also bring this mission directly into a local classroom by teaching a special guest lesson in partnership with JTNPA, connecting students with the park in a meaningful, hands-on way.

Joshua Tree January is more than a seasonal campaign. It is a proof of concept for what can happen when business leaders, educators, nonprofits, and public land partners work together for the greater good. Too often, these groups operate in silos, even though their missions naturally overlap. Miss T. believes the world needs more collaboration like this, and Joshua Tree January will serve as a starting point.

As part of this first launch, Jet Set Candy, will pledge 20% of proceeds from its National Parks collection to JTNPA. In addition, 100% of Miss T.’s affiliate earnings throughout January from Landmark Project, Oku Energy, and Hobie Eyewear will be donated to support education, preservation, and stewardship efforts in the park. The campaign will also include community giveaways from Hobie Eyewear, Traveling Miss T., Made by Fell, Hiking my Feelings, and Parks Project to invite more people into the experience.

Looking ahead, Miss T. envisions Joshua Tree January as the beginning of something much larger. The hope is to grow this model by bringing more business partners, public land sites, and nonprofits together to collaborate in intentional, mission-aligned ways. When education, conservation, and commerce work together, the impact can reach far beyond a single classroom or park. Joshua Tree January will aim to inspire the next generation to explore, protect, and care for the public lands that belong to us all, while proving that collaboration for the greater good is not only possible, but necessary.
