Now Boarding: Joshua Tree National Park

Natalie Teboul

Traveling Miss T. is proud to board the Coordinate Plane to Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California!

Known for its otherworldly beauty, Joshua Tree is where two desert ecosystems (the Mojave and the Colorado) meet, creating one of the most fascinating landscapes in the country. Towering rock formations, twisted Joshua trees, and vast open skies make this park a living classroom of science, geography, and art. It’s a place sculpted by powerful winds, rare rainstorms, and millions of years of geologic history, offering endless opportunities for curiosity and discovery.

But Joshua Tree isn’t just about stunning views. It’s also a sanctuary for unique plants and animals that have adapted to one of the harshest environments on Earth.

This new adventure is made possible through a partnership with the Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA), an organization dedicated to connecting people to the park through education and community. JTNPA funds a wide range of educational initiatives that inspire people of all ages to engage with Joshua Tree’s rich history, science, and arts.

As their mission states, “Expanding education in Joshua Tree National Park and the surrounding areas is one of the core purposes of JTNPA. We work to create community events, tours, classes, and programs that give park lovers access to the rich history, science, and arts of this incredible park.”

Together, Traveling Miss T. and JTNPA are bringing this mission to life in classrooms across the country. The upcoming free curriculum, "Explore Joshua Tree National Park with Traveling Miss T." will allow students to explore this national park by Coordinate Plane, combining math, geography, and environmental science in a hands on, interdisciplinary adventure.

By integrating real-world geography into math lessons, students not only strengthen academic skills but also build empathy and environmental awareness. When kids understand their place on the planet, they’re better prepared to help protect it.

This adventure will be available January 2026!
